TORNATORE
The Tornatore family dates back to 1865 when the great-grandfather of the current owner started farming. In 1910 Giuseppe, the current owner's grandfather, built a house with adjoining millstone in the Piano Fiera district. The company falls on the northern slope of Mount Etna. The soils are of volcanic origin cultivated for about 46 hectares of vineyards, 8 of olive groves and 5 of hazel groves, the rest is undergoing conversion; the Tornatore company owns the largest vineyard in the Doc Etna production area with an altitude ranging from 550 to 700 m above sea level. The vines cultivated are: Nerello Mascalese, Nero Cappuccio, Carricante and Catarratto. The grapes are harvested by hand. Subsequently transported to the cellar with special boxes, the grapes are selected and treated manually in order to better enhance the characteristics of each individual vineyard. After vinification, the aging takes place in oak barrels located in the barrel cellar
