TEQUILA TAPATIO
The "La Alteña" distillery was founded by Don Felipe Camarena Hernandez on 7 July 1937 in Arandas, under the name "Camarena Hermanos SA". Nowadays the property has passed into the hands of his son Carlos Camarena, who continues the family tradition in the production of a 100% agave tequila with an artisanal process that has remained unchanged over time. The agaves used come entirely from plantations owned by the family, cooking takes place exclusively in traditional clay brick kilns and the grinders used for the press are the typical stone "tahonas". Natural fermentation takes place in wooden vats, while distillation is carried out in discontinuous copper stills. For aging, barrels that previously hosted Bourbon or Tennesse Whiskey are used.
