CANTINA TOLLO
The Tollo winery was born in 1960, when the Abruzzi countryside was again depopulated and many Italians left the country in search of a better future. The fathers, winegrowers for generations, chose instead to remain in the vineyards, giving life to the Tollo winery. Protagonist in the 1960s and 1970s of the fermenting climate of the Abruzzo region, the winery played an active role in the sector, helping to bring about a radical change in the regional wine-growing geography. The contribution of the winery to the production regulation process, to the initiatives for the protection of typical regional wines and to the programs for improving the quality of the grapes and the vinification techniques are of great importance. Today Cantina Tollo is among the most important and consolidated realities of the Italian wine sector, present in all the countries of the European Union, in North America and in the Far East exports 35% of its production. The aging plants, located in Tollo, consist of barriques and large Slavonian oak barrels, to which are added the vitrified cement tanks, now considered the best for refining.
