ABBAZIA SANTA ANASTASIA
Abbazia Santa Anastasia produces wines from autochthonous and international vineyards, according to organic production methods and recently converted into biodynamic. The production philosophy is based on respect for tradition, but also for the ecosystem, using modern oenological equipment and energy that comes from alternative sources. The wines produced are pure expression of the terroir that originates them. Founded by Count Ruggero d’Altavilla in the 12th century, it was first entrusted to the Theatine monks and then passed on to the Benedictines. To the latter, the beginning of wine production is attributed, which soon became the most requested by the baronial and bishop's canteens of the island of Sicily. It is nature that dictates every choice in the Abbey: retracing the Trappist modus operandi to put nature at the center of all life, not only for the production of vineyards, olive groves or for winemaking. These choices have also led to having only one production center: only 65 hectares are planted with vines over the 400 that make up the Estate.
